Well Its Sunday night and I am finally home…

What more can I say after traveling 850 miles to and fro Callender Iowa (population 424 of the 2000 census). To pay my respects in song to Coleman at his memorial and to finally meet the heart of Team Larson under the worst circumstances possible. What a rock Colemans mother Peggy Larson was and is, she really is one of a kind. She Scott Caden and Coleman will always be in my prayers as well as the good people of Callender Iowa. Thank you.

On my way back home to Chicago I stopped in Iowa City to finally meet in person YOUTUBE guitar sensation phenom JWWETZEL also from Iowa and we whipped up this little cover song for Peggy This morning in hopes to lift her spirits after a very tough weekend for her, her husband Scott, and Caden (Colemans Twin).

Okay- here I sit in Callender Iowa, (evidentally no one knew how to spell calendar here!) and I’m getting ready to shut down my computer and force myself to try to sleep as I hear the *ding* and get just one more email….
I open it- and I KNOW it was meant to be….

Okay Darryl,
YOu had me in tears the FIRST time you sent the song….NOW, oh man, NOW you have me in SOBS! What an awesome thing to do…this email blew me away! I can not tell you how deeply we appreciate your efforts….your kindness….you heart. THANK YOU is not enough, but for now it is all I can think to say.
God has brought our family numerous amounts of angels to help us through Coleman’s journey. We have experienced
things that have changed our lives forever…

There truly are blessings even in the hardest of times.

We asked our carepage readers not to send the boys (coleman and his twin Caden) gifts, but instead to do acts of kindness for someone and send us the story. We have a notebook full of stories where people from around the country (and outside the country) have done acts of kindness in Coleman’s name. It’s hard to explain how grateful we are to be a part of that….to know that a homeless man was fed in Arizona, that a person paid for gas for a single mother at a station in Georgia, that a child received a new pair of shoes in Florida because someone read Coleman’s story and did the act of kindness in his name- now THAT’s a gift you can’t buy.
Darryl, thank you for what you are doing for our family. Do you mind if I add the story to our carepage sometime in the near future? You’re amazing….and I told you this before, but I prayed for you that night I emailed you, and will continue. Hang in there and know that you have BIG fans in Iowa! (well, in NYC today, but Iowa soon)
God bless you!
Peggy, Scott, Caden and Coleman Larson

because as I listened to that song, I wish you could have seen me smile! And yes, even giggle a little- not at you, just at the words…CALLENDER GIRL- how clever! :) you did a great job Darryl- did I hear you say you weren’t crazy about your vocals on it at the end? SHUT UP! :) It was wonderful, and JUST what I needed tonight. You did a wonderful job!

Geez- where do I even start in thanking you?
To think you drove all that way just to honor Coleman and our Team Larson blows me away. Scott and I can never adequately express how much that meant and will always mean to us. It’s something we will never, EVER forget Darryl!
I laughed too at church this morning when pastor said you thought you’d be able to eat some breakfast in Callender! :) Pretty eye opening small town life huh?!? We cook our own breakfast here! haha

Seriously, what you did for us will remain with us forever…just like Coleman. Thank you for being a part of his celebration party Darryl. I know he would have loved it! Also if you get a chance sometime, I would love, love love a copy of the song you sang before the celebration started? No hurry, just whenever.

Okay- now I need to go make myself shut my eyes. Just don’t like what I see when I do, but I will tell you that the song Calendar Girl will be ringing in my ears! I’ve always loved that song! :) Still taking one day at a time, but so happy to have met you and THANKS AGAIN AND AGAIN.
God bless you Darryl. What you did yesterday was God’s work…thank you for being the messenger!
Glad to hear you made it home safely.
We’ll keep in touch.
